CD4CDM project background Objective • Help developing countries participate in CDM as equal partners with developed countries through institutional capability and human capacity development Specific objectives • Raise awareness on the benefits offered by CDM • Assist in the establishment of CDM institutional frameworks • Strengthen the capacity of CDM stakeholders • Assist the private sector in the development of CDM projects

Institutional Framework CD4CDM contributes in various ways and capacities • Establishment of DNAs • DNA legal framework • DNA components and structure • Operationalization of DNAs • Sustainable development criteria • Project approval procedures • Legal framework and incentives for CDM investments Drafting of frameworks, advise, studies and reviews, stakeholder consultative meetings, etc.
3. Human Capacity Building CD4CDM approach • Identified and collaborated with target groups who play key roles in the whole CDM process • Stakeholders: DNA personnel, government negotiators and agencies, NGOs, project developers, financiers, consultants, academia, etc • Sectors: energy, agriculture, forestry, industry, financial, legal • Conducted trainings/workshops based on identified needs • CDM process and project cycle, institutional and legal frameworks, financing, contracts, baseline methodologies, PDD preparation, project bundling, sustainable development impacts

CDM Project Development CD4CDM role • Project identification • Some CD4CDM country teams have identified potential projects and approached developers/owners • Technical assistance • PDDS were prepared by CD4CDM experts in some countries • CD4CDM experts acted as technical consultants • Project promotion • CD4CDM organized/participated investment fora and other international exhibitions • Facilitation • CD4CDM teams assisted developers on the CDM project development process and requirements
