Review Egypt's National Framework for Sustainable Development Review of all previous NSCA stages Refine Lines of Actions from In-depth stage Review NEAP and NAPs Vision and Overall Objectives Linkage between capacity constrains, screened lines of actions and National Environmental Priorities Rationale, Objectives, Main activities Funding sources, stakeholders, lead entity National Strategy & Action Plan 'Project Profiles' Time schedule, Resources, Budget Expected outputs and evaluation indicators EGYPT - NCSA Capacity Development Action Plan
Different mechanisms used for integration • GEF National Steering committee(included line ministries, NGOs, national experts) • Nationalization of MDG 7(engagement of six line ministries to agree on national targets and indicators for MDG7) • BEZRA School Awareness campaign (integrate concepts of global environment issues in primary stages) • Public awareness Campaign (cooperation with NGO and private sector on “ will not allow polluting our Planet”) • Integrating CD projects of the action plan as an integral component of the upcoming sustainable development strategy
Challenges • Involvingdifferent stakeholders from line ministries with different interests to understand the global environmental issues and mainstreaming them in their mandate. • Involvingthe private sectorto take part intheir responsibility towards the global Environment and thus national environmental challenges. • Establishing a mechanism for follow up and evaluation of the global environment issues and its linkage to the sustainable development process
Future vision • Sustain the mainstreaming of the global environment issues in national plans through: - follow up on the CD action plan through planning department in EEAA - integrating the CD actions within different components of the sustainable development strategy - Resuming the work of the GEF national steering committee to program other GEF activities in the coming period
