Lesson 40 - Abbreviations • 40a) Use standard abbreviates for titles before and after proper names • 40b) Use abbreviations only when you are sure your readers will understand them • 40c) Use BD, AD, a.m., p.m., No. and $ only with specific dates, times, numbers and months • 40d) Be sparing in use of Latin abbreviations • 40e) Avoid innappropriate uses
Lesson 41 - Numbers • 41a) Spell out numbers of one or two words or those that begin in a sentence. Use figures for numbers that require three or more words. • 42b) Generally, figures are acceptable for dates, addresses, percentages, fractions, decimals, scores, statistics, and other numerical results, amounts of money, divisions of books and plays, pages, identification numbers and time.
