  2. DAVY CROCKETT So many legends have grown up around Davy Crockett’s life that it is sometimes hard to tell what is true and what isn’t. For instance, some biographies say that Davy killed 105 bears between one session of the Tennessee legislature and the next. It is certainly true that the legends made him larger than life.

  3. DAVY CROCKETT • David “Davy” Crockett was born in Greene County, Tennessee on August 17, 1786. Crocket was a frontiersman, Politician and folk hero from Tennessee who joined Texas forces in 1836. His Family move around frequently, and he learned to be self-reliant by age 13. Crockett didn’t have much of a formal education and he did not begin school until he was 18.

  4. David Crockett In 1813-1814, Davy fought in the Creek war, but he dislike the cruelty of the American treatment of the Indians and hired someone else to fight in his place. He married and had three children, but his wife died in 1814. His second wife ahd two children, so his family grew to seven. Davy live and farmed ins western Tennessee for 13 years until he went into politics.

  5. David Crockett First, Davy was chose as magistrate in his community. He next ran for the Tennessee legislature, using whiskey, whiskey, chewing tobacco and funny stories to help him get elected. Crockett reached the national congress in 1827 and served three terms between 1827 and 1835. When he lost the election in 1834, he soon decided to go to Texas, where he died at the Alamo on March 6, 1836. He either died fighting or surrendered and as executed by the Mexicans after the battle.
