Have you ever decided to have a bath, left the tap running and gone to do something else? • Have you ever started filling the sink then had to quickly run off somewhere, then forgotten about it? • Do you have children who do either of the above? If you answered YES to any of those, then this is for you!
The Product • New water faucet mechanism to stop accidental overflow of water from a sink. • The sinks own overflow is hardly ever enough to stop the basin overflowing. • The Sinko system detects when the overflow is in use and shuts off any running faucets.

How it works • Uses the Venturi effect. • Small vacuum is created when water flow is constricted moving from a volume of pipe to a smaller volume of pipe. • Constricted volume is introduced via a Venturi ring placed in the piping.
How it works • When overflow hole is blocked, pressure in the vacuum box drops, the switch is activated and the valve stops the tap. • This prevents the basin overflowing, preventing un-necessary damage and leaving the user with a full sink of water.
Cost estimates • Estimated cost to manufacture per unit: £7 • Estimated cost to the consumer per unit: £25 • What we are selling is a tap/faucet plus a small attached system for installation with the tap. For the £25, the consumer gets everything needed to install the system at home. • Product has many avenues of sale to pursue, kitchen companies, bathroom companies, plumbers ect.
Some advantages • Prevents one of the main causes of accidental damage in the home. • Assists in child-proofing homes. • Cheap to manufacture. • Very wide target market.
Disadvantages • Some basins do not have overflows and thus are not compatible with the Sinko • Basins outside of Europe do not have overflows as standard and would be harder to expand to other countries • Mould would be a problem on the pipe connected to the overflow
