Learning Objectives • At the end of this workshop students will be able to: • Define Risk Management and how it applies to their Sport Club members, facility, equipment, and events • Identify at least 3 types of risk to be aware of when your Sport Club is active • Explain at least 3 different ways to reduce risk in their Sport Club members, facility, equipment, and events • Inform all members of their group regarding their Sport Club’s Emergency Action Plan

What is Risk Management? • The control of financial and personal injury loss from sudden, unforeseen, unusual accidents and intentional torts (Ammon, 1993) • A management strategy to increase control over legal uncertainty that may wreak havoc on a sport business (Wong & Masteralexis, 1998) • Reducing exposure to danger, harm, or hazards that lead to lawsuits (Mulrooney & Farmer, 1998)

  18. Automated External Defibrillators • Most victims will survive if defibrillation is achieved in less than three minutes • Few will survive if the delay is 16 minutes or longer • Every Minute action is delayed is a 10% chance of damage.
