VocationalEducation in Turkey,in thepastandnow • In 2002-2003 AcademicYear; • Thenumber of vocationaleducationstudents: 985.575 • Theshare of highschools: % 30 • In 2009-2010 Academicyear; • The number of vocational education students: 1.819.448 • Theshare of highschools: % 46 • In 2012-2013,this share of highschools is expectedto be %51. • Ourgoal is toincreasethe rate of vocationaleducationto %60 in thefollowingyears.

  3. The Main FactorsThatPreventThe Spread of VocationalEducation • Beingdisadvantaged in universityplacements(Thecoefficientsystemthatwasintroduced in 1999) • Lack of knowledge of parentsandstudentsaboutvocationaleducationanditsopportunities

TheMeasuresTakenforthe Spread of VocationalEducation • Solvingthe problem of beingdisadvantaged in universityplacements • Thereduction of thedifference in thecoefficients in 2009 • Openingupthequota of specialengineeringforvocationalschoolgraduates in 2010, • In 2012,with theabolishment of thecoefficientsystem,universityplacementwill be provided on equaltermstoallhighschoolgraduates • Plannedandprogrammedgeneralizingwork,which is informingparentsandstudentsaboutvocationaleducationanditsopportunities
