Rigorous Curriculum Design • Knowing the common core standards and related next generation assessments demand much more of our students to show evidence that they are college and career ready, Raytown needs a cohesive and comprehensive curriculum that intentionally connects standards, instruction, and assessment.
Priority Standards • Teachers met in K-5, 6-8, 9-10 groups to prioritize • Whole group met K-12 to review • Our units are created to address these Priority Standards
The Plan • Spring 2013 • 6-10 ELA will pilot this first unit. Teachers will give feedback on the unit. Summer 2013 • Revise the piloted unit • Create four additional units ( 1st Semester of 2013-2014) Fall – 2013 Pilot new units Create 2nd Semester Units
Feedback • Pre/Post Assessment • Is each question aligned to a Priority Standard? • Are all Priority Standards assessed well in the Pre/Post? • Engaging Scenario/Task • Is the scenario engaging and a real life example? • Do the tasks build ( skill and rigor) to prepare students for the final task? • Effective Instruction • Does the unit include effective researched based instructional strategies?
