  10. Africa Cooperation • Vision • A Science driven African Renaissance • Mission • To foster strategic bilateral and multilateral S&T partnerships for achieving shared economic and social development in Africa

Why cooperate with African partners Knowledge exchange and human capital development - Ensure net flow of knowledge, capacity and resources into South Africa and the African continent from the North and South. Establish and service Africa cooperation relations and agreements with a view to strengthen the System of Innovation in SA and Africa . S&T partnerships - Ensure that Africa contributes to the global pool of scientific knowledge and technological innovations. Harness and apply STI for sustainable socio-economic development (2007 AU Summit - African Political leadership’s recognition of S&T as a means to attain MDGs and socio-economic growth). Regional and continental integration - Participate in international S&T platforms region, continent, and global level with a view to influence S&T policy debates.(E.g. G8, NAM, UN Organisations, AU, etc)
