IEEE Education Society Jon Ashdown jonashdown@ieee.org
Overarching Mission • To promote, advance, and disseminate state-of-the-art scientific information and resources related to the Society’s field of interest and provides professional development opportunities for academic and industry professionals.
Society Strengths • Globally engaged, recognized, and sought after to collaborate in educational innovation, generating quality publications and conferences, and dedicated leadership.
Local IEEE EdSoc Chapter Goals • As Student, TA, and Professor, have noticed many shortcomings in engineering education over the years • Many ideas for improvement, but would like to collaborate with students and faculty to find ways to improve quality of engineering education
Local IEEE EdSoc Chapter Goals (Cont’d) • To leverage strong network to collaborate on ways to make engineering education better! • Northeast (especially our NYS Capital Region) is becoming a technology hotspot and there are many technical schools, so what better place to form an IEEE Education Society Chapter?
Collaboration • Hope to collaborate with other IEEE local branches in future • RPI and other area colleges • IEEE Electric Power • IEEE Signal Processing • IEEE GOLD
Questions? • Thank You • To support, officers will send out email with details to join, collaborate, and get involved
