Imply (verb)/Infer (verb) • Trying to imply the severity of the scores, the teacher asked, “Did you study at all for this test?” • Failing to accurately infer my message, Alex was surprised when she heard we were having a quiz.
Superfluous (adj) • Ignoring the superfluous number of burgers on the grill, Conner decided to run to get more for the barbecue.
Rapacious (adj) • Trying to defeat its rapacious reputation, the bank gave its customers a refund for excessive fees and late charges.
