  1. Simple Addition Dr Fog Presents Reception (National Numeracy Strategy) (Based on DFEE Sample Lessons)

  2. Resources • Pretend bus or perhaps made from rows of chairs, or drawn on the floor with chalk. • 0-10 number cards or 0-10 spot cards (For each pair)

  4. Mental Learning Task • Today we are going to play buses and learn how to add some more to a number.

  5. Mental Learning Task • Your teacher will help you to count forwards and backwards. • Count on from this number 1

  21. Main Learning Task • The teacher will give each group a set of 0 – 10 number cards. • One child picks a card and reads the number. • This represents the number of extra people that get on the bus.

  22. Main Learning Task • Second child picks up a card. This is the extra people getting on the bus. • Find out how many are now on the bus.

  23. Main Learning Task • Today’s challenge. • Try to do this work with cards with bigger numbers.
