  1. Setup Firewall for QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale QuickBooks POS configure firewall automatically for you. Therefore the automatic configuration of firewall causes connectivity issues between server and client workstation. It happens because the firewall blocks the connectivity between server and client workstation. When your security setting and firewall block QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale ports, the following processes can be interrupted: Electronic Funds Transfer - Intuit Merchant Services credit card processing. Database Server Manager - (Server installation only) Ability to connect and record transactions/changes to the company file. Intuit Entitlement Service - Product license and user validation. Configure your Window Firewall Press the key Windows+R to open the run command. Type “control”, then click OK to open the Control Panel. Set the "view by" to Small Icons, Now select Windows Firewall. Then select Advanced Settings, Then choose Inbound. Now click New Rule. Select Port, then click Next. Enter the port numbers, then click Next (See Point of Sale Firewall Ports section). Select Allow Connection, then choose Next. Name your firewall rule (e.g. POS), then click Finish Follow steps 5-9 to create a new Outbound Rule.
