Examples of placental mammals are _ • humans, elephants, hoses, lions, mice, whales, • Two adaptations that Mammals have/use are • fur/blubber and mammary glands • Adaptation # 1 Definition • fur/blubber are physical characteristics that allow mammals to regulate their body heat • *Draw a picture of the definition • Adaptation #1 Example • An example of a mammal that has fur is the dog and an example of a mammal that has blubber is a whale, both physical characteristics provide warmth for the animal and allows them to regulate their body heat • Adaptation#2Definitionmammary glands are glands in mammals that provide nourishment in the form of milk for their young • *Draw a picture of the definition • Adaptation #2 Example A fox mother is able to keep her babies safe while she hunts because she can provide nourishment for them from her mammary glands in the form of milk which allows her to keep them hidden.

Examples f bivalves are oysters, mussels ,clams and scallops • Two adaptations that bivalves have/use are the shell and the adductor muscle for protection • Adaptation #1 Definition: The adductor muscle is attached at the narrow end of the bivalve. It allows the shell to close tightly to protect it from predators • Draw a picture: • Example: a clam has an adductor muscle that it uses to protect itself from predators that attempt to pry it open. Adaptation #2 Definition: the shell is the hard outer layering of the bivalve to protect the mantle and the internal organs within Draw a picture: Example: The oyster has two shells that protect its internal organs from predators
