TASK • Reflect on your “gaps” from Day 1 • Select one year level • Design 1 mini unit to address a few of the “gaps” identified • Ideally try to include at least 1 substrand from the Communicating strand and 1 substrand from the Understanding strand in your unit • Open the Unit Planner in Word and fill in all sections • By 3pm today upload your unit plan to the weebly • Between now and Day 3 trial this unit with your students and keep some notes on both your observations and students responses to the unit
Focus Concepts • What key cultural values underpin the celebrations of Christmas and Chinese New Year • Is education the same across the world? • What are the key features of city life around the world? • Manga: What does it offer? • French food: not just crepes!! • Leisure in Australia & Japan • How do young people in Italy & Australia spend their free time? • Indonesia & its relations to the world • Identity – who am I? who are you? who are we? • Social experiences across cultures
