HERA and the Framework Agreement • Allocate grade – HERA points • Go back to 2006 and move onto new scales – same salary or nearest point above. If green circled, move to bottom of new grade • Track through to now, including any increments (2006 and 2007) and pay rises. Work out what you have been paid and what you should have been paid – give you back pay with 5.3% interest No one loses immediately and some gain significantly.

HERA and the Framework Agreement Holidays Grade 1 to 5 • 0-5 years’ service: 22 days + 8 Bank Holiday (BH) + 6 College closure days (CC) = 36 days • 5 years’ plus service: 27 days + 8 BH +6 CC = 41 days • Shorter service requirement: 5 years not 7 years Grades 6 to 10 • 28 days + 8 BH + 6 CC = 42 days • Equalised with academic staff
HERA and the Framework Agreement Probation Generally: • One year’s probation for all new staff: 5 month review and 10 month review. For support staff wef 2008 • Move academics from 3 years’ ‘probation’ to training for early career and assessment to move from Lecturer A to Lecturer B • Actual probation will be 1 year, though it will probably take us until 2009 to introduce
HERA and the Framework Agreement Notice periods • Everyone: 0-6 months: 1 week on either side • Grades 1 to 5:6months to 4 years: 1 month either side4 years’ plus: 3 months’ either side • Grades 6 to 10: 6 months to 1 year: 1 month either side1 year plus: 3 months’ either side* *Academics: 3 months to include full term
