RC551-GE Ethernet Demarcation Device Raisecom RC551-GE series is IEEE802.3ah OAM Compliant Intelligent Ethernet Demarcation Device (EDD) which serves as a service border controller located at the customer premises and owned by the service provider. EDD delivers managed converged services (voice, video and data) over VLAN in an access network or a metro Ethernet network.

RC551-GE ProductFeatures • IEEE802.1Q VLAN • Fault Pass Through • Auto Laser Shutdown • IEEE802.3ah OAM • Management: SNMP/Telnet/Console/IEEE802.3ah OAM • IP Stacking • Port rate limiting • Flow control • SLA Provisioning • Network Security • Traffic Management
IEEE802.1Q VLAN • 4K active IEEE802.1Q VLAN: customers can structure virtual workgroup without build physical network. It can be easily configured and enhance the security of network • Support VLAN forwarding, swapping, and stacking (Q-in-Q)
Fault Pass Through Fault-Pass-Through is a troubleshooting feature that allows the EDD to monitor the optical link by shutdown the copper port if there is loss of signal on optical link
Auto Laser Shutdown Auto Laser Shutdown enables the shutdown of optical TX signal when no RX signal detected to prevent hazardous laser radiation to personnel
IEEE802.3ah OAM OAM (Operation, Administration, and Maintenance) describes the monitoring of network operation by network operators. OAM is a set of functions used by the user that enables detection of network faults and measurement of network performance, as well as distribution of fault-related information. RC551-GE support: • OAM discovery • Remote failure notification: Dying Gasp: power failure • Remote/local loopback: Loopback enables network diagnostics from local or remote site, provides a flexible method for troubleshooting and is prohibitive to increase truck roll and other maintenance costs.
IP Stacking IP Stacking is Raisecom’s innovation to make RC551-GE media converter two IP stacks, the administrators can telnet to RC551-GE and ping user network directly. Usually, one IP will be used by the carrier’s transmission network for management. However, the management IP address is always in different IP segment from user network. If there is some problem between the carrier and user network, it is not so convenient for the carrier to locate the point of failure. This will saves much time to locate the problem and fix it, and thus reduces truck-rolls for carriers.
Port rate limiting Rate limiting is used to control the rate of traffic sent or received on a network interface. If the traffic threshold is exceeded, corresponding measures will be taken, for example, dropping the excessive packets or re-defining their priority levels.
Flow control 802.3x Flow Control is a mechanism that protects Full Duplex Ethernet ports from packet loss. This occurs particularly when multiple packet streams from different ports are destined to a single port, exceeding the capacity of the port.
