1. Public transport • Size of the city and development trends discouraged it • Previous experiment failed • Lack of support at regional and national level • School bus- obligatory • Factory bus- used but not very popular • CIVITAS DYN@MO – one of the measures: two electric mini-buses for the demonstration corridor • Planning on the regional level through SUMP
2.Cycling – well accepted and popular, but… • Intenseconstructionofcyclingtracks • Cyclingprogrammes at school • Schooltravelplans • Business travelplans • Bicyclestandsandshelters • Cyclingeventsandfestivals BUT: • Reluctance to allowcyclists onto the road • National restrictions
3.Walking – many partners, intense promotion • Health Paths –resultof IEE Active Access • StrongpartnershipwithNGOs • Schooltravelplans • Supportofmedicalprofessionals BUT: • Conflictswithcyclists • Low on politicalagenda
Overcoming challenges • Engagementof some stakeholders – countylevel • Wehaveachievedsomuch, it is sufficient • Finances are uncertain, there are otherareasofpriority • Regionallevelofdecisionmaking is beingremovedbynationallegislation; the processwillbesimplifiedand more partnershipsmade • Championsin Croatia, but wecangomuchfurther! • Financing is stillanissue, but: • Internationalcooperationandfinancingopportunities CIVITAS DYN@MO, BicycleOasis – IPA CBC - National legislation is changing, new priorities are being set, opportunities for funding are opening
