  2. “Petra tou Romiou” • “Petra touRomiou” is located in Paphos area south. • It’s a place that combines MYTH, ANCIENT GREEK RELIGION, BEAUTY and GRANDEUR, and holds enough secrets.. All this mystery has led me to believe that it could be one of the 7 wonders in the world!

  3. The mystery legend of Goddess • According to the Iliad of Homer's epic, Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, emerged from the waves of the Mediterranean Sea close to the city of Pafos. According to Homer, the Zephyr wind led the Goddess to the coasts of Cyprus and then people identified the grandeur and beauty of the rock with the location of the arrival of Venus in Cyprus. “ROCK OR COAST OF AFRODITE”

  4. Hesiod provides the following dramatic account of the event: "Chronos took the great long jagged sickle; eagerly he harvested his father's (Zeus') genitals and threw them all off behind.... The genitals...were carried for a long time on the waves. White foam surrounded the immortal flesh, and in it grew a girl... her name is Aphrodite among men and gods, because she grew up in the foam (aphrizo).

Another Opinion about the Mystery • The name of our place refers to another historic importance as connected with the name of DigenisAkritas. • According to tradition, this huge stone was dropped by Digenis from the mountains, to sink the ships of the Saracens who were enemies. “Rock of Romios” (7 - 10 century AD)
