What is a Cloud? A cloud is made from tiny water droplets and/or ice crystals. Snowflakes are made from a collection of many ice crystals. Rain is just water in liquid form.
Types of Clouds Cirrus Stratus Cumulus
Cirrus Clouds • Clouds that are high in the sky. • They are very thin and wispy. • They are seen during fair weather.
Cumulus Clouds • These clouds are big and fluffy. • They are seen during fair weather. • They usually are sprinkled across the sky. • When they are large and cover the sky they sometimes mean a storm is coming.
Stratus Clouds • These clouds are low in the sky. • They tend to spread out across the sky in a horizontal line like a blanket. • The clouds are usually gray. • The clouds can stretch over the whole sky. • These clouds bring light rain or snow.
