Tepidarium • Strigiling • Roman tool to wipe sweat and dirt • Used oil, not soap • Done by slave if you had one • Could get massage • Hair plucking
Caldarium • Hottest Room • Opens pores • Hot Pool • Heated by the hypocaust • Heats the tiles • Shoes worn to prevent burns
Frigidarium • Very cold water • Closes your pores • Meant as a refresher
Background • Thermae built by State • Balneae privately owned • Social Place • Like a community center
