Teacher Assistants/Instructional Aides • Have a schedule • May work with more than one teacher • Confidentiality and Professionalism • Supportive of program and teacher • Run Copies, Instruct small groups, prepare materials, and assist the teacher
Support Providers/Special Education • Assigned to one or more students in your class • Are not there to run copies, prepare materials • Should not be the “teacher” for their assigned student
Parent/Family Volunteers • Are not required to attend • Need clear directions and expectations • Respect teacher’s authority • Confidentiality and Professionalism • Need your respect and gratitude
Cross-Age Tutors and Buddies • Need specific activities or assignments • Need to respect the students in your class • Your students need to respect them • Confidentiality • Appreciation • Great motivator for both students
Student Teachers (like you) • Start as observers, prepare materials • Gradually take over instruction • Gradually take over management of the classroom and discipline • Attend staff meetings • Work with staff to plan instruction • Limited communication with parents
