Fat • Protects & insulate body • Stores energy • Two kinds: • Healthy (unsaturated, omegas, etc… ) • Unhealthy (Saturated, trans ) • In meats and dairy • Can protect from cancer • Make up your cell Membrane
Protein • Used to build muscle • Used to fix red blood cells • 3 Kinds: • Whey (quickly digested) • Casein (slowly digested,) • Egg (absorbed easily) • Found in meats, eggs, nuts, seeds, etc. • Extra amounts are stored as fat, calories • Everything in body has some type
Fibre • Helps move waste through intestines • Reduces “bad” cholesterol • 2 Kinds: • Water-soluble fibre (forms gel in intestines) • Insoluble fibre (collects water to store in intestine) • Found in bran cereal, beans, veggies, fruit, etc. • 80% of people don’t have enough
