  2. The Past 1980s - Online Work Training 1990s - Online Courses offered at traditional universities

  3. The Present There are official online universities as opposed to traditional colleges offering online classes A range of specialized online schools Advanced technology such as video and chatting systems

  4. The Future Online colleges will increase, both in number of schools and their popularity - increasing costs for public/private universities -increase in use of technology

  5. Scenarios Middle aged individuals - cheaper and quicker -work job and online school simultaneously -have family -help advance in current job -blue collar to white collar -avoid classes of young students, frat, and youth culture

  6. Scenarios Teen Moms -Drops out of high school -gets GED -has to raise child -typically age 21 -pursues BA -allows her to enter workforce immediately after schooling

  7. Scenarios Poor High School Career/Financially struggling -history of poor grades in high school -missed time at school -no history of college graduates in family -no money for college -need to work to support family

  8. Scenarios Adding Extra Degrees -individual already has degree/multiple degrees -avoiding costs such as commute, books, etc. -specialization -ages 40-50, 60

  9. Possible Oracle • Lisa Murphy Duncan (Sara’s Aunt) • Went to University of South Carolina for BA in French • Studied in France as an exchange student

  10. Possible Oracle • Lisa Murphy Duncan (Sara’s Aunt) • Went back to USC to begin graduate school for a MA in teaching but did not finish • Went to the American College online to gain certification to work at MetLife Insurance Co. • Chose online school in order to support family after a divorce
