  2. Founding Fathers • James Madison, John Jay, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. James Madison was an American statesman. John Jay was the governor of New York state. Thomas Jefferson owned hundreds of slaves. George Washington, commander in chief of the continental army during the American revolutionary war.

  3. Slavery • The first slaves came from Virginia in 1619.

  4. Tools • They used planes, hammers, and saws for building.

  5. Costume • Women’s clothes were made by tailors.

  6. Education • Education was accessible to those who could effort it.

  7. 3 Regions • Middle Colonies were: New York Pennsylvania New Jersey • New England Colonies were: Massachusetts Connecticut New Hampshire • Southern Colonies were: Maryland Virginia North Carolina South Carolina
