Reducing Waste Trash audits
Trash Audits December 2010 • Total of 31.09 lbs of trash • 32.2%, or about 10 lbs of the trash included recyclable materials. • 20% of the trash fell under the mixed paper and cardboard category
Improving Recycling presentations
Trash Audits May 2011 • Total of 44.24 lbs of trash • 25.3%, or about 11.2 lbs of the trash included recyclable materials. • 6% of the trash fell under the mixed paper and cardboard category
Trash Audit Results In the first trash audit, 32% of the trash consisted of recyclable items. 20%, of the trash fell under the mixed paper and cardboard category. In the second trash audit, the percent of recyclable items in the trash decreased 6.8%, to 25.2%, with mixed paper and cardboard only making up 6% of the trash.
