Tripod Survey Results • There was general consensus that: discipline has greatly improved and the climate is more positive. • Administrators were perceived as handling student discipline more effectively. • Teachers were perceived as more caring. • Teachers were allowing more opportunities for reassessment.
AP Performance • 2-5
Another Example of Success TC has earned the designation of a Blue Star School for our students’ exceptional performance on the 2010-2011 Financial Literacy Certification Test. Congratulations students, Jim Pondolfino and Charles Lawrence.
AYP Status The year before last we met 21 out of 29 benchmarks. This year we met 27 out of the 29 benchmarks. We did not meet standard in Special Ed Math and Graduation.
Special Ed Math • In the previous year special education math saw a significant increase making the attainment of AYP through safe harbor more difficult. • Special Ed math increased from 59% to 61%. The standard was 63%.
Celebrating Titan Achievement! • 5 students were selected as Semifinalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. • Representing less than 1% of all students nationwide! • 3 African American high school students were selected as Semifinalists in the 2012 National Achievement Scholarship Program! • 3 Hispanic/Latino students are being recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program! Highest scorers on the PSAT!
Celebrating Titan Achievement! • Football Team: 1st winning season in nearly 20 years • Recognized by Northern Region: Spirit Award • Basketball Team: won district and regional championships • Crew – Nationally Recognized • Arts – Numerous Awards and Commendations • JROTC – Numerous Drill Competition Awards • Career and Technical Education: Blue Star School for our students’ exceptional performance on the 2010-2011 Financial Literacy Certification Test

A word about graduation rate… • We graduated more students than ever before but did not meet standard in this area. • 95.5% of the students enrolled last September graduated • This does not account for students who dropped out prior to that OR relocated without notifying the school. • High mobility rate is a significant factor in our graduation rate.
Federal Graduation Index • Based on the 9th grade cohort, graduating in 4 years • Only Standard and Advanced diplomas are calculated in the index • Students who leave the school and their enrollment in another school is unknown are counted as non-grads

New Attendance Procedures • Lead social worker hired to monitor student attendance and facilitate assistance to students with attendance issues. • After 3 unverified absences in a block class or 5 unverified absences in an embedded class students are in jeopardy of losing credit. • Students in jeopardy of losing credit will work with teachers to create a “buy back” plan to make up missed work or instructional time. • 3 tardies equal 1 unverified absence.

What does it mean to have an instructional focus? • Reassessing and Reteaching • Open ended questions • No Secrets classroom • Responsibility and accountability for student learning • Well planned lessons • Additional support from administration and instructional coaches • Frequent observations and immediate feedback with the opportunity for dialog with the observer • Common syllabi • Student engagement
State Requirements • Progress monitoring – Istation, ARDT • Technical meetings with VDOE • Quarterly reports to be reviewed by VDOE • Interventions plan for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 students • Communications plan • Indistar plan
