Discussion • Tomorrow (10/9/12) we will have a class discussion on Montana 1948 • You must have at least one page of prep notes to receive full credit for the discussion. Your prep notes will be collected separate from your Critical Literacy Questions • If you are absent, you will be asked to write an essay for partial points

Ideas for discussion prep • Things to discuss: • Talk about how you felt after reading a certain section. Refer to and or read part of the scene that brought about that feeling. • Make connections between the selection and your own life. • Make connections between the selection and another book, movie, or TV program. • Talk about a character that impressed or disgusted you. Give an example from the selection of why you felt that way. • Bring up events, characters, or situations you found confusing. • Talk about something that surprised you in the selection. Why was it surprising? • Tell the group what the selection is causing you to think about. • Talk about an issue this selection addresses. (Political, social, cultural, etc.) • Bring up possible symbols or themes you are seeing as you read
Ideas for discussion prep • Tag quotes from the required chapters to share with the class.
