Mainstreaming of urban actions 2007-2013 The Commission intends to reinforce the place of urban issues in the programmes 2007-2013. This implies: to increase the added value of Structural Funds intervention promoting an integrated approach to sustainable urban development. to valorise theURBAN “acquis”. to increase the involvement of local authorities , as a key element for facilitating a successful urban policy to promote exchange of experiences between cities
Regions for Economic Change • 25 January 2006 : Time to move up a gear (Renewed Lisbon strategy ) • 24 March 2006: The European Council invites the Council, the Commission and the Member States to organise the exchange of experiences in a practical way. • 8 Novembre 2006 COM (2006) 675 : Regions for Economic Change. Taking Growth and jobs agenda into account in interregional and urban networking
Regions for Economic Change A proactive policy tool offered to Member States, regions and cities to help them implement the renewed Lisbon agenda through actions aimed at economic modernisation. Transfer best practice Link the exchange of best practice to the implementation of the Convergence and Competitiveness Programmes.
Regions for Economic ChangeNovelties • Selection of key themes (30) for economic modernisation. • A bridge will be established between the network programmes (INTERREG IVC and URBACT II) and the mainstream programmes. • An enhanced communication effort will be put in place.
