Metabolism Working GroupTopics for discussion/analysis • Including inorganic carbon chemistry • What data exists within the network? Is it useable? • Collect/compile data for GLEON12 • Methods to analyze large amount of O2 data • Relationships between bottles (BOD) and free-water • Uncertainty in metabolism parameters (k, GPP, ER) • Use GLEON data to estimate k from DO data and compare to wind speed methods • Look at errors in not using full diff. eq. • Daytime vs. nighttime R (hard to tackle) • Including measured precip in estimate of k • Search for episodic events…

Metabolism Working GroupScientific questions/Action items • More discussion on using pH data from across the network to make metabolism estimates. • What can be learned: relative importance of carbon metabolism and other oxidative processes in controlling O2 budgets. Also can potentially fill in the gaps when DO data is missing. • Value of GLEON data set: Potentially can look at how lake morphometric and biologic characteristics influence no-biologic oxidation. 2. Action items for GLEON 12 • Compile existing pH data for time frame covering the existing DO data (i.e., Solomon data set) • Clean and prep for analysis by GLEON 12
