Why did Japan attack Pearl Harbour Japan attacked Pearl Harbour because if they made an attack that could make the Americas leave Hawaii leaving it free, which would be easier for the Japanese to attack the Fareast.
Most serious ship damaged The most serious ship that was damaged was the USS Arizona. There were nine torpedoes and eight bombs that hit her. People thinks that one bomb pierced trough the forward deck and blowing up over one million pounds of gun powder. 1,104 men were killed in the Arizona. Before the Arizona sunk it flew up to ten feet up into the air and broken into two pieces. The Utah, Oklahoma and the Arizona never sailed again, but other damaged ships were repaired and was still able to sail.
Effect of the attack The next day U.S.A declared war on Japan. On 1941 Dec 8, Germany and Italy declared war on America. The Japan, Germany and Italy are now going to have a big war against America, Britain, France and their other allies. President Roosevelt called this day “ day of infamy”, this attack brought the United States into world war two. Quote by President Roosevelt: “it was a date which will live in infamy and no matter how long it may take for us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.”
