  1. Welcome To The Designerradiatorsdirect How Not to Fight About Heating Control?

  2. Our weather has been unseasonably chilly and another cold spell is due to hit the country. The trouble is that when it becomes chilly in the home, some people feel colder than others and it could happen that one member of the family racks up the thermostat and the other then gets too hot. Normally it is a woman who feels colder than a man. It is said that they have thinner skins and this causes one in four couples to fight over the controls. If heating bills soar because of the arguments, perhaps you could compromise on having heaters installed such as Hudson Reed Radiators which because they are very effective in heating a room, will be cheaper to run.

  3. Arguments range from temperature control to how long a heating system should stay on. If you choose one of the panel radiators from the above company, you need to know that these heat up very quickly to get a room to temperature. You can, therefore, set the heating to come on just before you get home from work to feel the heating effect. Of course, there has to be a compromise and I have found that, as a woman, if I put an extra few layers on the feeling cold problem goes away. Furthermore, in the winter I wear fingerless gloves and I try to move around more to keep the blood flow going.

  4. Because we are in front of our computers or watching television, we have become far too sedentary in our habits and taking the dog out for a walk is a good way to get muscles going and improve circulation. It is also healthier to put on an extra few layers. I have found that I suffer rarely from colds and flu as when I go out there is not such a sharp difference in temperature between in and out. Getting from a home that is too hot into a frost is too much of a shock for the body. Another thing that can be done is to insulate the home better under the Government’s Green. Once you have done this you could place foil liners on the wall behind the heaters to bounce heat back into the room rather than heating up the wall. This is especially true if your radiators hang on an outside wall.

  5. It was traditional to place radiators underneath windows and in our grandparents time it was not such a good idea. Nowadays, though, because most of us have double glazing heat is no longer lost through draughty windows. You should also not leave the heating on 24/7 as you will sleep better if you are in a colder room. I found that I always had a blocked up nose in the morning so it is better to leave the window open a crack, so long as you are snugly warm in bed.
