  4. ¡Sorpresa! Hay unos iregulares! • SER / IR • Fui Fuimos • Fuiste Fuisteis • Fue Fueron • Son iguales-- dos por uno!  • ¿Cómo sabemos la diferencia?

  7. Stem-Changing Verbs • -AR and -ER stem-changing verbs DO NOT stem change in the preterite and are congujated like regular -AR and -ER verbs. • Ex. CERRAR ENTENDER • Cerré cerramos entendí entendemos • Cerraste cerrasteis entendiste entendisteis • Cerró cerraron entendió entendieron

  8. *-IR stem changing verbs • Change differently in the preterite than in the present tense. • Ex. PREFERIR • Preferí Preferimos • Preferiste Preferisteis • Prefirió Prefirieron

  10. -CAR, -GAR, -ZAR rules!!! • Verbs that end in: -car, -gar, -zar have special rules in the preterite • EX. BUSCAR (c-qu) • JUGAR (g-gu) • EMPEZAR (z-c)

  11. **Apunte importante** • The change for -car, -gar, -zar verbs ONLY occurs for the (YO) FORM!!! • Almorzar -- almorcé • Jugar-- jugué • Empezar-- empecé • Llegar-- llegué
