Teen Mission Youth Group Servants Founder: Mykal Moore 1 Corinthians 12:6: “There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” 1 John 3:18: “Dear children, let us not love with words but with actions and in truth.” To most effectively draw teenagers to this group, there has to be a team effort of servants doing things behind the scenes with the gifts that God has given them to make the meetings and the community projects organized, fun, and creative. Here are some helpful ideas to implement as you get Teen Mission started and running.
If You Are First Getting Started??? • It will not be of much importance to have all of these different positions in place until you get Teen Mission established and known at your school. So, it is important to begin with some one who will formulate the discussions(the President), get breakfast to draw people to the meetings, and one other person that will help you spread the word with flyers. • Call Mykal Moore at 803-645-7013, or e-mail Mykal at mmoore383@andersonuniversity.edu so that he send you the flyers(unless you want to create your own). • Don’t be afraid if you find yourself doing all of this work by yourself at first. The founder, Mykal Moore, had to create the discussion outlines, buy the breakfast, take people to the meetings, set up an account, raise money, and tell people about the Facebook page. But, as the group grows, you will find kind people that will love to help you.
Money Manager • There are plenty business-minded people in schools. Perfect gift!!! • This person will be in charge of getting a Teen Mission account set up either by itself or with another business, organization, church, or group(for example: Aiken High’s Teen Mission account is held by the Parent Teacher Student Organization). • This person will also be in charge of getting any donations or fundraising money to the Teen Mission account safe and sound.
Breakfast Buyer • This person or these people will be in charge of getting the donuts, orange juice, napkins, and cups for the meetings. There can be different people that buy on a certain week of the month, or whatever system works best. • Of course, if there is enough money in a Teen Mission bank account set up through another organization, group, business, or church, then whoever buys the food just has to keep the receipt and give it to the Treasurer of this organization, group, business, or church, and they will REIMBURSE you( this means you will get the money back for whatever breakfast you purchased for the meeting).
Attendance Director • There is always that person who loves order, loves things to be organized, and loves to know where everyone is. USE THIS GIFT!! • This person will make sure everyone signs in on the attendance sheet every meeting. The attendance sheet should have 5 slots: the person’s name, grade, cell #/home #/ e-mail address, the size shirt they wear, and a tally box for how many times he/she has attended. • This person will keep up with a member’s tally box, so that when a member has attended at least 5 meetings, they receive a shirt(when enough money is raised for shirts).
Prayer warrior • Believe it or not, somebody at your school loves to pray. GOD SAYS DEFINITELY USE THIS GIFT! • The prayer warrior will create a box for people to slip prayer requests into at the meetings. The prayer warrior will take these requests home and pray over every situation(good or bad) inside the box. PRAYER CHANGES THINGS! ~Proverbs 15: 29: “The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” ~Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Communications Specialist 1) There is always someone in a school that loves to socialize with people. That’s great!!! Get them to use it for a serving purpose. • The communications specialists will get the names and contact information(cell phone or house phone or e-mail) of each member from the attendance director . They will text/call every one the night before the meeting to remind them about writing on a sheet of paper their prayer requests, text/call people to remind them to become a member of and check regularly the “Ahs Teen Mission” Facebook page, and text/call every one if for some reason a meeting has to be cancelled. • They will also be in charge of inviting people regularly throughout the week by giving out flyers to come fellowship, eat breakfast, discuss great topics, and get involved in service activities. • They will also be in charge of contacting different people in the community to come in and give their testimony about what Jesus has done for them in their lives.
Fantastic Fun Fundraising • There are always people in school who come with fantastic ideas and ways to draw people to a cause. TIME TO USE THAT GIFT! • This person will be in charge of coming up with ways to fundraise the money needed for Teen Mission to buy shirts, breakfast, thank you cards, and donate to other worthy causes. These ideas can be anything such as asking all members in local churches to donate a dollar, a car wash, and bake sale, etc. • They will be in charge of letting everyone know the dates forcertain fund raisers. • They will be in charge of ordering the shirts or getting help from someone to order the shirts. A good place to order shirts from is a Promotional Products service called CRESTLINE. There number is 800-221-7797. Call and ask them the process and costs and such for ordering shirts.
Car Pool Organizer Some people will not be able to make the early morning meetings because there bus comes too late, because they can’t drive yet, or because their siblings hate to wake up. So, someone needs to be in charge of getting everyone’s home address information and organizing a car pool system so that as many people can attend the meeting as possible.
Service Projects Director • There is always somebody at school who absolutely loves to help others in any way. USE THAT GIFT!!! • This person will be in charge of getting Teen Mission involved with a number of different school and community projects. This person will make handouts of the different service projects readily available for any member of Teen Mission or school student that wants to get involved. • This person will also be in charge of purchasing the weekly thank you cards for the teachers/administrators/principals at the school. • This person will lastly make sure that the Teen Mission’s time, place, and description for the meetings will be projected over the intercom.
Facebook Fanatic!!! • There is no doubt about it. You can find AT LEAST 500 people at your school who are mad over Facebook. Use that gift, too!!! • This person will be in charge of making sure everyone becomes a member of the Facebook page for Teen Mission. You find it by typing in: Ahs Teen Mission. • This person will make sure all the pictures and videos of each meeting or community service project get uploaded onto the Facebook page. • This person will also be in charge of making sure a DAILY Scripture is put up on the Teen Mission Facebook page. Yes, even Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Techno Wiz 1. IDK How, But there is always that one person who is absolutely genius where technology is concerned. They will coordinate with the “Facebook fanatic” to make sure that the videos and pictures get uploaded onto the Facebook page. • This person will also make sure that Teen Mission gets its picture in the school yearbook.
Music Master • Every one loves music. Some people though…music is LIFE. Use this awesome gift!!! • This person will be in charge of getting either a guitarists to play during the meetings before the discussion or having Christian tunes playing through a CD player, Iphone, or Ipod, while people are talking and eating. ***There is a very deep list of Christian songs(rap, rock, reggae, gospel, contemporary) on the Ahs Teen Mission Facebook page.
