EUMETNET Nowcasting Activity An European wide cooperation framework on nowcasting • Members: 24 european national weather services (AUSTRA; NETHERLANDS; BELGIUM; CROATIA; CZECH Rep.; DENMARK; ESTONIA; FINLAND; GERMANY; HUNGARY; ICELAND; IRELAND; ITALY; LATVIA; LUXEMBURG; NORWAY; POLAND; PORTUGAL; SERBIA; SLOVENIA; SLOWAKIA; SPAIN; SWEDEN; SWITZERLAND) • Additional participations from Météo France, Met-Office, HMZCG (Montenegro) and HMS (Macedonia) Nowcasting enhancement and better coordination in Europe
EUMETNET Nowcasting Activity • Activity within the EUMETNET Forecasting Programme • first phase from January 2013 to June 2014 • Investigating feasibility of nowcasting cooperation within EUMETNET • requirements of joint developments on nowcasting systems • second phase thereafter until the end of 2017 • developing a framework of near real-time observational exchange • short-range NWP developments for a better capability in nowcasting • tailoring nowcasting products for end user needs • ZAMG as Coordinating member with the support of KNMI
