The AC to DC conversion is done by a switch mode power supply (SMPS) which interrupts current flow, sending dirty electricity back into the grid

  3. Thermal solar • No dirty electricity problem with thermal solar • DC solar systems without an inverter or SMPS have no dirty electricity problem • Dirty electricity is high frequency voltage transients and harmonics (electrical pollution) contaminating the utility 60 HZ supply
