  2. The Dominican Republic • a nation that is the eastern two-thirds of island Hispaniola, part of the Greater Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean region. Hispaniola’s western side is Haiti , making Hispaniola one of two Caribbean islands that are shared by two countries. • Both by area and population, the Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean nation after Cuba with 48,442 square kilometers (18,704 sq mi) and an estimated 10 million people.

  9. Meals • El desayuno (breakfast) • Boiled roots/plantains, which fill the stomach • El almuerzo (lunch) • Rice and beans are always eaten during lunch, the most considerable meal of the day. A siesta normally occurs afterward • Dinner • Consists of boiled roots, eggs, mashed potatoes, bread, spaghetti, and sometimes a plantain dish called mangu. Mangu Sancocho

  10. AGRICULTURE Traditional export crops are: 1)      Sugar 2)     Coffee 3)    Cocoa 4)    Tobacco Non-Traditional Export Crops are: 1)Pineapples 2)Citrus 3)Melons 4)Mangoes Agricultural areas are found in the East and Santiago.
