Now…how would you be able to recognize hazardous products at home? • Well, there’s another system called the Household Hazardous Products System or HHPS • Federal law requires that any household product containing hazardous substances be labeled accordingly.
Hazardous products are now identifiable to consumers through the following rating system of three words. • These words are listed in the order of most hazardous to least hazardous.
DANGER • WARNING • CAUTION
The border of a HHPS symbol indicates which of the 3 danger levels the product poses • DANGER – symbol has a “stop sign” border • WARNING – symbol has a diamond border • CAUTION – symbol has a triangular border
