Geography Definitions • Isolate- to keep apart or away from others.
Facts about the Yangtze • The world’s deepest river. • It is deep and runs swiftly. • It hardly ever floods. • Large ships travel on the river. • It flows through southern China. • It has always been one of China’s main trade routes.
The Yellow River (Huang Ho)-flows 3000 miles across northern China
Facts about the Yellow River • It is shallow so it floods easily. • It has destroyed cities and farms. • After it floods, disease, hunger and death follow. Why? • Sometimes it is called “China’s Sorrow”.
Joins the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers 1,100 miles long No rivers in China flow from North to South. More than 5 million people worked on it. 2 million workers died, became ill or ran away. The Grand Canal
The Great Wall Of China • Rulers built walls to keep out invaders then two rulers decided to join all the walls together. The joined walls are called “The Great Wall of China”. • It is a wonder of the ancient world.

Anyang was the most important Shang Villages. • The Chinese carved it out of the forest. • A palace and temple stood at it’s center.
