  2. States included in the Middle Colonies • Middle colonies- New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware. • These were all the colonies in the Middle Colonies and 4 out of the 13 colonies

  3. Year Middle Colonies were founded • Delaware-1638 • Pennsylvania-1682 • New York-1626 • New Jersey-1664 • The dates above show the year the colonies were founded. Not one of them were founded the same date.

  4. Why each Middle Colony was founded/settled? • The people who settled in Delaware came for farming and manufacturing. • The people who settled in Pennsylvania came to the new land for farming and manufacturing. • The people who settled in New York came for farming and manufacturing. • The people who settled in New Jersey for manufacturing.

  5. What is the geography in the Middle Colonies? • Most of the land in the Middle Colonies flat and had rich soil for farming. They could grow lots of crops. They planted beans, corn, squash, and other fruits and vegetables. The settlers also raised cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens.

  6. What kind of climate can you find in the Middle Colonies? • The climate in the Middle Colonies is rainy. • This is another reason it’s good to grow crops.

  7. How important is religion in the Middle Colony? • Religion is very important in the Middle Colony. The people who lived there were Puritans. If they refused not to believe or didn’t go to the service on Sunday then they would be severely punished.

  8. How important is education in the 13 colonies? • The people thought the Children should learn to be Puritans. That was basically the education the got to be Puritan.

  9. What do colonists do for entertainment? • They played/listen to music. The children even played common games like- tag, marbles, hop-scotch, and hide-n-seek. • They flied kites and they would play in a park-like area called a Common.
