7. Liturgical Elements • Fraction • The act of breaking bread for communion • Intinction • The act of dipping the bread into the wine or juice.

8. Liturgical Elements • Gloria • Short for Gloria in Excelsis, borrowed from Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest” • Kyrie • Another Latin phrase/canticle. This time, typically sung phrase Kyrie eleison, which means “Lord have mercy.”

9. Liturgical Elements • Sanctus • Another Latin phrase, but we almost always sing or say in the Communion prayer as “Holy, holy, holy Lord. God of power and might.” • Versicles and Responses • These are the things the congregation says when prompted. • For example: “The Word of God for the people of God.”

10. Sacred Furniture • Altar - a.k.a. the little table in front of the pulpit • Ambo • The lectern or pulpit. An ambo is a little different from either of those items because it includes a reading desk.

11. Sacred Furniture • Font • Keep it filled with water and you can be ready for baptism. Some are big enough to fully immerse people. Others, like ours, are just big enough to be heavy. • Credence Table • Holds the elements before communion
