Central Population Register (CPR)the main source for population and social statistics in Norway • CPR includes all residents • All residents are registered in the CPR with a unique PIN • All immigrants are given a PIN when they register with the immigration authorities • All vital events are registered in the CPR • Births, deaths, marriages • National and international migration • And demographic characteristics • Sex ,age, marital status, number of children, place of birth • Citizenship, national background, and year of first immigration • All other national administrative registers based on individuals use this PIN.

  8. Analysis of migration statistics – gender perspectives Increase our knowledge concerning: • Gender differences in integration • Gender equality challenges among immigrants • Show diversity among groups (country background) • Show differences between generations

Research areas where gender perspectives are important Labour– Integration Education – Future possibilities/resources Demography – TRF and marriage patterns Crime – Domestic violence, exposure to and exercise of violence Values– Gender differences in attitudes towards gender equality Political participation – ability to shape society

Planning ahead • Exploit the possibilities of gender perspectives in our analyses even better. • More insight into values, and attitudes of gender equality through the new survey on Living Conditions among immigrants. • Better knowledge of gender differences in immigrants educational level through new survey on immigrants education.
