Electrical Drawings ReviewOverview of Sector 1-2 drawing May 24th 2011 S.Pemberton & K.Pereira
Summary of Sector 1-2 • This is the first complete sector to be put together in our current format. The level of detail within each equipment area has been reviewed at various stages of the project to give a balance between information and legibility. • The aim is to create a comprehensive set of drawings for the LHC that incorporate detailed representations of magnet internals and instrumentation from the cold mass to the IFS box/PE. • The drawings are as close to the ‘as built’ layout of the machine as possible. As the schematic is a 2D representation obviously there are limitations in certain areas. • Each cryogenic assembly name has been added to facilitate component searches on the Equipment Management Folder (MTF). • An important function of our drawing is the capability to have the different circuits and their associated equipment arranged in ‘layers’. This means that one can add or remove different circuits, or layers of the drawing very easily which leaves the user with a drawing specific to their requirements.
Further development • These drawings are nearing graphical completion; however, we still have development to do around elements such as: • Naming Conventions (polarity and turned magnets) • Highlighting QPS voltage taps and adding QPS signals • Hyperlinks will be used to facilitate direct links to all non-conformities. This aspect could be expanded in the future to include drawings, specifications etc. • We are currently working on sector 5-6 as this sector is very similar to sector 1-2. • Once we freeze the layout of the drawings we would like to start the approval process as a rolling program (as each sector is finished it is reviewed). This will allow us to incorporate any large scale corrections into the ongoing production. • We hope to have completed the drawings for all sectors by the end of the year, this then allows time for the approval, corrections and publishing process.
