  2. Refresh drawing tips: 1. Check negative space (the space in-between and around the positive shape)

  3. 2. Check angles (using your pencil to see the angle the line is on - check your drawing)

  4. 3. Check proportions (check ratios using your pencil).

  5. 4. Line things up (use your pencil to see the height of things compared to other things).

  6. Types of drawing (review): • Blind contour: drawing without looking at the page. Very careful hand/eye co-ordination is important here.

  7. Linear contour drawing: working with line only to describe the object.

  8. Tonal (value) drawing: using shades of graphite to distinguish lights, mediums & darks.

  9. Expressive non-objective drawing: using an expressive line, a kind of energy is included in the drawing.

  10. Artist’s drawing:a rendering using line, tone and expressive marks to convey the subject in an interesting & visually effective manner.
