Description of the role: • Athlete Service Coordinators (ASCs) serve as support at US Olympic Committee (USOC)-sponsored events to enhance the experience of participating athletes. As experienced athletes, the ASCs are in a unique position to provide independent support to athletes participating in the Games. In performing their duties, ASCs act as the bridge between the participating athletes on one hand and the USOC and the NGBs on the other. The position entails many different responsibilities, including those enumerated below. In executing their responsibilities, the ASCs report to the Chef de Mission on all matters; the Chef de Mission can designate other staff or volunteers to oversee the ASCs on specific tasks.
Create an identity and name that reflects the responsibility of the athlete serving this role for the USOC and representing the AAC.
To eliminate the confusion associated with the existing staff title of an ASC at the training centers.
Because this is the role that we select for the athlete who will physically lead our athletes into competition representing all athletes in the USOC movement. “Chief” • This role will serve as the central point for athletes competing for any issues, questions or concerns in regards to anything involving them at the games. “Liaison” • They are a key element that holds all the pieces together for the competing athlete in being part of the Olympic/Paralympic experience. If they break/tear/ or do not work, it can prove to be extremely detrimental to the entire team. “ACL”
