  2. Why Did the War Start? • Real Reason: Economic power + Military Power [Who’d control a trading port] • Mythic Reason: Beautiful woman

People • GREEKS • Menelaus + Helen+ Agamemnon + Odysseus + Achilles. • TROJANS • Paris + Hector + Andromache • GODS • Apollo + Athens + Zeus • The gods allowed the Trojans to take Helen. • Achilles and Agamemnon both get a concubine • The priest wanted Agamemnon's Concubine Back because it was his daughter. • The Gods are killing Agamemnon’s troops and he gives up the concubine to stop this. • Agamemnon steels Achilles concubine. • Achilles is mad and does not fight. • Achilles best friend gets killed by Hector. Achilles kills a whole bunch of Trojans including Hector. • In the end: Menelaus conquers Troy and gets Helen back.

  4. Sides. Who Was On Which Side? • Menelaus, Odysseus, Agamemnon, and Achilles were on one side • Paris and Hector were fighting for Troy.

  5. What Was Wanted • Achilles: supreme warrior • Agamemnon: Superior supreme commander. • Men: Sex and glory/ honor • Women: wanted to be controlling and conniving. • People wanted the city of Troy and Helen

  6. Zeus Was Watching The Hidden Force

  7. Conclusion • Menelaus got Helen back and the Greeks captured the city of Troy.
