The Present Simple When the 3rd person singular is used we add an “s” to the verb. She plays football. SUBJECT + verb (infinitive) I play football !
The Present Continuous SUBJECT + am/ is/ are (to be) + verb-ING I am playing football You are playing football He is playing football
Time adverbs: PS • often • everyday • always • frequently • never • sometimes • usually • On Mondays • Once a week, twice a week, three times a week
How to use the adverbs • Subject + Adverb+ verb I usually wake up at 7. • Adverb + subject + verb Sometimes, she goes to the supermarket.
Time adverbs: PC • At the moment • These days • Lately • Now • Nowadays
Activity: Simple vs. Continuous You have to complete the sentences using the correct tense: PS or PC. Tricks: • Try to underline the key words (adverbs) • Remember that the verb TO BE in the present simple is: am/ are /is, and that it has no continuous form. We can’t say: “I’m being”
