  2. What is a Found Poem? • A found poem is a poem composed of words and phrases from another source. • For this assignment the source is the book Night.

  3. How to make a Found Poem Here’s an illustration of the process using the book To Kill a Mockingbird

Step 1 - find quotes in the original text 1.   “Jem made pleasant conversation.” (23) 2.  “I stomped at him to chase him away, but Jem put his hand out and stopped me.” (23) 3.  “Jem suddenly grinned at him ‘come home to dinner with us Walter.’” (23) 4. “Jem educated on a half-Decimal half-Duncecap basis.” (32) 5.  “Seemed to function effectively alone or in a group.” (32) 6.  “No tutorial system devised by man could have stopped him from getting at books.” (32) 7. “Jem Stamped his foot.” (33) 8.  “Jem Grabbed my pajama collar and wrenched it tight.” (56) 9.  “Jem scowled darkly at me.” (37) 10. “Jem’s head at times was transparent.” (36)
