Peace Corps Mission: Promote world peace and friendship The 3 Goals: • To help people of other countries meet their needs for trained men and women; • To Help promote a better understanding of the American people on the part of the people served; • To help promote a better understanding of other people on the part of the American people.

Peace Corps/Morocco Overview • The Peace Corps/Morocco program was established in 1963. • Since the first Volunteers arrived, over 4000 Volunteers have served in Morocco. • Currently there are 206 Volunteers working in four project areas: • Environment - - 45 Volunteers, • Health - - 55, • Small Business Development - - 49, • Youth Development - - 57.
Peace Corps Morocco Project • 1- Environment(45 Vols) • Assist in translating country development plans into community-level actions; • Promote environmental education curricula; • Expand communities' capacity to improve environmental quality. • Initiative: • Volunteers work in teams with local partners and Water and Forests Department personnel to promote environmental education curricula in rural schools and protected areas' information centers.
Peace Corps/Morocco Project • 2- Health (55 Vols.) • Address community health problems; • Promote personal and environmental health; • Enhance capacity of professionals and organizations. • Initiative: • In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, health volunteers address community health problems such as high infant mortality rates and adverse living conditions associated with poor water quality and inadequate sanitation facilities.
Peace Corps/Morocco Project • 3 - Small Business Development(49 Vols.) • Help develop sustainable micro-enterprises; • Enhance basic small business practices; • Seek available and appropriate resources. • Initiative Volunteers collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism, Artisans and Social Economy. The program prepares Moroccans and their local associations or cooperatives to develop and enhance sustainable micro-enterprises.
Peace Corps/Morocco Project • 4 – Youth Development(57 Vols.) • Mentor youth and teach leadership skills; • Lead HIV/AIDS and health awareness activities; • Empower youth and women. Initiative: Volunteers assigned to youth and women's centers provide youth, women, local partners and communities with participatory educational opportunities that develop their own capacity to improve their lives.
Annual Project Outcomes: Volunteers assisted in building the capacity of more than 52,474 individuals, 1,032 service providers in 371 organizations and 504 communities throughout Morocco.
