  7. Verse • Poets spend a lot of time considering the way the words SOUND when read aloud. • Strategies used to create meaningful SOUNDS: • Alliteration • Onomatopoeia • Rhyme • Assonance • Consonance • Measure • Internal Rhyme

  8. Assonance • Identity or similarity in sound between internal  vowels in neighboring words. • Do you like blue?
